Hi, I'm seeking like minds.

I grew up designing and making my own clothes since a little girl, and apprenticed with Mirage in Melbourne, Australia’s largest CMT house for major Oz designers; before studying fine art at Heatherleys in London. I was also sponsored by Mirage and a runner-up in the Australian Fashion Awards. Then I traveled and lived in a few different countries and got into planet activism and events, then running an online arts community, then helping manage festivals. Now current fashion has caught up with the designs in my head and the ideals in my heart and I recently returned to designing eco-friendly wearable art.

The stuff I’m now designing and reconstructing are Eco Couture, individual one-off’s made from recycled and vintage fabrics. My design skills are coming back and improving with each collection batch. Sketches and photos of recent experiments are up at http://www.recycledfordancing.com plus I already have clothes in 2 boutiques, addresses are on the site under Retail Stores.

I also do custom stage gear; before working on festivals full time I actually did costumes for Music TV dancers, musicians, and theatre. I had a few designs on national TV way back when, on long running music TV show called Countdown. And I designed costumes for a whole Bertolt Brecht play at the Chelsea Playhouse in London, plus whole wardrobes for nightclub dancers and contemporary cabaret, and fire dancers for festivals in Byron Bay.

My current designs are inspired by San Francisco and Japanese street fashion, as well as European Couture and Burning Man. For me it is sculpture using textiles with a wearable framework and chaos, I take something that I see and mix it with something else that I see, each piece inspiring the next piece. Anyway take a peek at http://www.recycledfordancing.com for art’s sake, and keep me in mind when you are thinking of new additions to your wardrobe or recycling your wardrobe.

Thank you for being here.

I live out on the end of Long Island in N.Y. Most of my work is between 50 and 75 miles in travel one way. Gas is up to about $4.50 here so traveling is pretty costly. So what to do? Well, I decided to build a rolling bungalow so I can stay on the job for a week or two at a time. Here’s a few pics of the beginning. The welder finished the solar rack today. Im putting 9/51 watt panels on it. A Trace C40 charge controller and a 1000 watt xantrex inverter with remote. I’m just going to throw in 6 or 8/220 amph golf cart batteries for my power supply. I got a used rv stove/oven and a small 2 way fridg. It should be fine for short stays.

Join us Aug 30-Sept 1 for a weekend of stainability learning and idea sharing at the Organic Freeledom Farm as we construct an authentic Native American Style outdoor bread oven.

Our first meeting on July 4th weekend was a great success. We made many new friends and learned how others are creating a sustainable homestead in the sometimes hostile environment of the Four Corners region.

For those of you not familiar with the Organic Freedom Farm, we are in the proccess of building a small intentional community in the awesome AZ Painted Desert. Our ultimate goal is to create an "Eden in the Desert" while building a network of communities so that we can learn from each other as we trade goods, services, and ideas.

We ask that you please provide your own provisions for a camping trip to a remote primitive area, (food, water, etc...) Please no chemical based products on the property. Also be advised, the farm is located on high desert grassland with minimul shade.

Construction of an outdoor bread oven is the scheduled project for the weekend, however if there is a good turn-out we may be able to do additional cob projects.

In the spirit of community we ask that all attendees remember that although we all have our own individual goals, the purpose of our group gatherings is to share rather than "promote personal agenda" Please we ask, no politics and no religion.

for more information about how you can join the "Trade Network "or to RSVP please email organicfreedom@earthlink.net

Joel Selvin has been providing his San Francisco Chronicle readers with fascinating accounts of the Bay Area music scene for the past 30 years. Who better to tell us of the heady flower power days of the Haight-Ashbury when San Francisco was the center of the Beat Generation?

On January 14, 1967, 20,000 youngsters of all ages made a pilgrimage to Golden Gate Park for the Gathering of the Tribes for the Human Be-in. It was a seminal event that presaged The Summer of Love. What was this event? Why did it happen? Why was it impor tant? And what was its role in creating the era we call the Sixties?

To answer these questions, Joel Selvin will be our host for a special night of conversation and reminiscence over the figures that shaped the culture, music and events of 1960s San Francisco. Joel is the author of Summer of Love and has covered pop music for The Chronicle since 1970.

Hello folks

New kid on the block here.

I live full time in my converted school bus and have a job as a carpenter. I have 24 / 6 volt deep cycle gulf cart batteries (wired for 12 volts) built in and 1200 watts of PV solar panels and a 400-watt wind turbine to keep them charged. In the summer time I move around but in the winter month I stay put on a farm or a vineyard here on eastern Long Island. This kind of life is not for everyone but I love it. I would love to hear from any other bus/truck home dwellers }:o)

Peace along the way
Dennis the bus dweller N.Y.

Several times in fact I have had a dream where I would see a snap image of something. Later on I would actually see that exact image in reality. A job I took, a place I happen to walk by, etc. Anything similar happen to you guys?
